Hello everyone! Ouji here again from Artsyballoons.
I want to share something with you guys today that something that I’ve never done before.
But first let me show you guys the end results first!
Does it look tall in the picture? Haha. Most of my friends told me that it’s not that big.
And almost everyone has already seen this picture. But I just really wish to share more of the progress of doing it instead.
How it started
So I started by testing out the sizing of the balloons and have a rough estimate of the whole sculpture will be.
And I’ve pre-made the head, torso and arms of the monkey at home first. Because just preparing these parts took me about 8 hours. I was so exhausted to do more.
The next day
Booked a truck from Gogovan, and reached the venue around 12pm.
Unloaded everything, met up with my parents for lunch! But the venue don’t have a room for me to place my Balloons safely and it’s a outdoor event. So I’ve to do this!
Hahaha. Trap the Balloons in between all the tables. 😀
And so we went for lunch!
After lunch we spent around 2 hours doing the legs and assembling the monkey. And here’s the progress!
80% finished! And there’s Jocelyn hugging the monkey!
And here’s 100% assembled! And look at the comparison! The balloon sculpture is twice her height! 😀
And we proceed to place the monkey on top of the power switch box.
And it’s my turn to climb the tall ladder and secure firmly to the tentage structure! So that it’ll not wobble when the winds are strong!
Almost done! I can tell you this is not easy honestly. Because even the position that you tie the Balloons to the structure will affect the entire outcome. Balancing for around 15 minutes securing the Balloons is really tough.
And tadah! We’re done and we also placed the red Balloons with the golden flowers to beautify the entire display
And once were done with all the adjusting and positioning of the arms, eyes and major parts of the monkey, it’s time to spray a coat of balloon shine over the entire monkey! So I’ve to climb the ladder once again. -.-”
And here’s the final product! Thank you very much to Jocelyn and my parents for helping me complete this project I couldn’t have done it without you guys. The harsh weather, the scale of this monkey is insane to handle alone.
Also thank you to Derek for helping us take this photo!
And I’ve also done a few small monkeys around the lamppost of the venue. Here’s a picture!
This size is really mediocre to the 3m tall monkey!
And that’s it for everything! It’s just up there for the residents to come down and enjoy themselves and take more photos of the event! There’s game stalls, carnival foods, mass Lou hei and so much more! More photos below!
This is how the monkey looks at night! With the lights on!
Look at the crowds! Even the roads have to be sealed off for the Chingay performances!
And we have Sylvia being the Emcee for the event. You can click on the link above for more information if you’re having a D&D, private event or even wedding! A great Emcee will always create a great event!
